The story starts in Afghanistan, it follows
the lives of two young boys, Amir and Hassan, who grow up in Kabul before the
Soviet invasion and later the rise of the Taliban. The novel is narrated by
Amir, who reflects on his childhood and the unforgettable events that shape his
life. One of the main event is a kite-flying tournament, where Amir betrays
Hassan, his loyal friend and servant. This betrayal haunts Amir throughout his
life, leading him on a journey of guilt and redemption.
